Cheers to the Perfectionist..

No one ever sat me down as a child and said.. "You.. will be anal" It is a product of having a mom who expected "my best" at all times, the pressure to work hard from my father, and the attention of so many growing up the only boy in the family that made me into a perfectionist. What sort of horrid images are conjured up when that word is mentioned....?

I see a perfectionist as a person who doesn't settle for "good enough", who pushes themselves to their limits and then expects the same from those around them, and someone who can be realistically flawed but so dedicated to doing things "right" that it almost seems like they're not.. and what does that do to the people around them, various things...

If you're a perfectionist and a "over-achiever", you could inspire but most likely you breed insecurity in your co-workers, peers, even friends and family sometimes without even an inkling of intention to those ends. NOT EVERYONE IS CREATED EQUAL.. let's be real. I accept and totally respect individuality and uniqueness, I engage these unique qualities in everyone I meet and interact with.. I enjoy these qualities most of the time, but if there ever was a universal measurement of greatness or grade of humans... some would fall short of even average while a handful (relative to the billions of people who live on planet Earth) would be considered above average.. even superstars. haha

Sometimes we have to take a step back..

I can close my eyes and when I open them I'll see normal people in front of me who may not care as much, or put as much energy into things as I do, or work as hard for things, or generally expect as much of themselves as I do.. and that's okay.. because they are not me and I am not them.. and we're all different. We all have our perspectives and our priorities.. Peace.
