Green birds & A Song

When I first arrived to India.. some basic things were apparent, first was that there were tons of people and they weren't wearing thobes and I could see the women's faces. Another thing I noticed when I came onto our compound was that there was grass!! There was water, grass, children playing in the courtyard, jumping into the pool right behind my house.. it was very lively compared to the desolate, depressing place I had come from. A long path runs through the center of the housing complex towards the Embassy. Along this path there are large trees on each side of the path, spaced out. The tree closest to the end of the path had two green birds in it that were playing around, hopping from branch to branch and chirping. I noticed them while I was walking to work one of the first days I was in country.

Every day as I walked to work I saw these two little birds, playfully exploring the tree. One day they weren't there anymore.. it was sad because I enjoyed finding the two animals at play every day. Well.. while I was smoking a cigarette out in front of my house today, I saw two green bird fly over my head and thought.. they're back! (Obviously the probability of them being the same birds is slim to none, still...) How fun? Just one of those little things that can be lost in all of the sensory input we have daily. It's good to appreciate the simplicity of life!
